Cities for Democracy – A gathering on Strengthening Local Democracy

The gathering will focus on securing digital democracy, engaging youth in democratic participation, and strengthening dialogue between local governments and citizens.

Participants will hear from European political leaders, experts from Nordic Safe Cities, and representatives from the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, who will provide a broader European perspective.

Program Highlights

The program includes an opening session with Mayor Mathias Bernander and KS Chair Gunn Marit Helgesen, discussions on digital threats and safe digital cities, and best practices from municipalities in Ukraine, Germany, Denmark, and Norway. A youth forum will provide insights on engaging young people in democracy, and there will be opportunities for networking and exchanging experiences.

The conference will be held in English and is open to all interested participants.
