The values of democracy under pressure - How can education play a role?
Streaming (Link til feed)International and national surveys show that fewer and fewer people believe in democracy. Young people, in particular, seem to have lost faith. We also see a democratic backslide globally.
The Council of Europe reports that although the number of democracies continues to grow, democratic rights and institutions are on the decline. In both new and old democracies, there is a need to build and sustain democratic values, encouraging active civil society and reflective democratic citizens.
For Democracy Week 2024 at Agder University, the Erasmus+ Project ValiDe and the UDFORSK Centre welcome you welcome you to participate in a seminar that aims to highlight what role education can play in promoting democratic values and counteracting antidemocratic attitudes.
