About the conference
Peace Volunteering Network in Albania in close partnerships with PVN Norway, the University of Agder, Municipality of Kristiansand and 9 organisations from the WB, Slovenia, Romania and Hungary are organising the European Conference “ Resilience Democracy” in Kristiansand, Norway. It will explore the transition from hybrid to consolidated democracies, delving into the challenges, models, best practices, and future perspectives. The event will emphasise the non-linear nature of democracy development, highlighting that democratic processes are not always stable or straightforward. Countries, regardless of their current status, face a dynamic and cyclical path with periods of progress and setbacks. The conference aims to foster a collaborative environment where participants can share experiences, learn from each other, and work together to strengthen democracy amidst complex global challenges. A good part of the conference will be focused on Democracy issues in the countries with hybrid democracies such as the Balkan region. The main topics for discussion are the role of key stakeholders in safeguarding democracy: media (disinformation), youth, civil society, Universities and Schools/education and cross-sectorial collaboration.
